Mr. Roy Lee Collier, 74, of Toccoa, passed away Sunday morning, September 10, 2017, at Stephens County Hospital.

Born October 5, 1942, in Stephens County, he was a son of the late Garnett L. Collier.
Mr. Collier was a 1960 graduate of Toccoa High School, a 1964 graduate of Furman University, a member of Theta Chi Fraternity, National Society of Scabbard and Blade, and National Society of Pershing Rifles.

He received his MBA from the University of Georgia in 1966 and was on the faculty from 1967-1968. He served as a Captain in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1969-1970. He was a computer systems manager with Coats & Clark and later a software consultant with American Software.

Mr. Collier was Troop Committee Chairman for Boy Scout Troop 77 of Toccoa, member of Vigil Honor order of the Arrow, and The Cross and Flame. He received the Scoutmasters Award of Merit, The Founders Award, The Torch Award and Silver Beaver Award among others.

He was co-chairman of the Stephens County Foundation-Tugalo Bend Heritage Site. Mr. Collier was a member of The Toccoa First United Methodist Church where he was chairman of the Administrative Board, past Trustee chairman, Technology Committee, Sunday School Teacher of Open Door Class and a church choir member for 46 years.

Family members include his wife, Leah Y. Collier; a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Doug Brandon of Suwanee, GA; a son and daughter-in-law, Christen and Nicki Collier of Toccoa; two grandchildren, Rachel Brandon and David Brandon, both of Suwanee; a brother-in-law, Walter Young of Lawrenceville, GA.

Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Sunday, September 17, 2017 at The Toccoa First United Methodist Church with Dr. John Brown, Mr. Jackie Whitmire and Mr. John Dickerson officiating.

Burial will follow at Roselane Cemetery with military honors provided by the Georgia Army-National Guard.

The following Eagle Scouts will serve as pallbearers, Alvis Tucker, Ryan Fields, Scott
Stroud, Alan Dickerson, Phil Evans, Brad Farmer, Frankie Dietz and Stuart Ivie.

Members of the Toccoa High School Class of 1960, the Open Door Sunday School Class, and Boy Scouts will serve as honorary escort. They will meet at the church at 1:30.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Saturday, September 16, 2017.

Flowers are optional or donations in memory of Mr. Collier may be made to Boy Scout Troop 77 Building Fund in care of The Toccoa First United Methodist Church, 333 East Tugalo Street, Toccoa, GA 30577
