Mrs. Doris Whitlock Nichols

Mrs. Doris Elizabeth Whitlock Nichols, age 82, of Toccoa, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Stephens County Hospital.

Born December 11, 1936 in Toccoa, GA, she was the daughter of the late Rev. James and Blanche Bell Whitlock. She was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church and was retired from GTE with 27 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her parents Rev. and Mrs. James Whitlock, her husband Dennis Lamar Nichols, a daughter Denise Elizabeth Nichols and brothers Daniel Whitlock and Jerry Whitlock. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Trish Nichols; grandchildren, Scott and Sandra Bolemon and Alisha and Brian Scott; great-grandchildren, Taylor Bolemon and Tristan Bolemon; sisters-in-law, Sue Whitlock and Pauline Nichols Stowe; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Trudy Nichols; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at twelve noon Tuesday, February 26, 2019 from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Tommy Childress and the Rev. Bruce Moore officiating.

Burial will follow at Stephens Memorial Gardens.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers; Scott Bolemon, Allen Whitlock, Jimmy Nichols, Ty Cawthon, Steve Collins, and Chuck Kellar.

Juanita Keeling, Elizabeth Lindsey, Wanda Kellar, Jenna Charles, Donald and Louise Elrod, Louie Nichols, Joni Terry, Michelle Kelley, Jessica Sheriff, Shannon Sheriff, Eva Aderholdt, Becky Ledford, and former GTE employees will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 4pm – 7pm Monday, February 25, 2019.

Flowers are optional. Those desiring may make memorials to the Stephens County Historical Society, P. O. Box 577 Toccoa, GA 30577 or to Amedisys Hospice 53 Rock Drive, Toccoa, GA 30577.
